He worked for Microsoft as a Program Manager for Windows Mobile from 2003 to 2005. He was an early employee at Palantir Technologies’ financial analysis platform from 2005 to 2007.

On August 1, 2013, Harjeet Taggar, and Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit, secured $39 million for a different fund named Initialized Capital, which searches for high-quality founders first and then tries to see whether they can aid or understand a company’s market. Tan was named on the Forbes Midas List in 2018 and 2021.
